CAEP is a Royal College accredited national CPD provider for emergency medicine and as such is responsible for reviewing programs that have been developed or co-developed by physician organizations for credits under Section 1 (group learning) or Section 3 (self-assessment programs or simulation based assessment programs) of the Royal College’s Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program.

The accreditation application must be submitted electronically with all required documentation (including payment form) a minimum of eight (8) weeks prior to the CPD event through our submission portal.
The Royal College has available an Accreditation Toolkit that may be helpful in planning and developing your CPD programs.
Types of Accreditation
Group learning activities held in Canada — such as conferences, workshops and seminars.
Fees: $1200
Self-assessment programs are tools that enable physicians to assess aspects of their knowledge or practice and to identify opportunities to enhance their competence through further learning activities.
Fees: $1500
Simulation approximates real-life situations, allowing participants to demonstrate (and receive feedback on) their application of knowledge (scientific and tacit), clinical reasoning, communication and problem-solving, as well as their ability to collaborate and work effectively in a health care team.

Complete the checklist to determine if the organization planning the activity qualifies as a Physician Organization.

If the organization is NOT a physician organization:
- Review the Royal College policies regarding co-development with a CPD-accredited provider.

Important Notes:
- Applications are due a minimum of eight (8) weeks prior to the CPD event through the link.
- Incomplete applications will not be processed and the CPD provider will be required to resubmit.
- Please allow 6 weeks for processing. Applications received less than 8 weeks in advance of the start of the educational activity will be subject to a rush fee, and will only be accepted based on availability of our accreditation team to complete the review. Applications will not be accepted 4 weeks or less in advance.
- Accreditation statements, or statements referencing pending accreditation, cannot be used in any marketing materials prior to application review/approval by CAEP.
