*Grant Innes Research Paper and Presentation
- The Grant Innes Research Paper and Presentation is an award created in honour of Dr. Grant Innes, Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine (CJEM).
- The recipient of this award will have their abstract published in CJEM and will present the abstract at the research plenary at the CAEP annual conference.
- A plaque and cash prize will be awarded to the recipient at the plenary presentation.
Applicant Verification
- CAEP memberships are verified for all potential awardees.
- If the CAEP membership type does not match that indicated in the grant application (e.g., member self-identified as a CAEP resident yet holds a faculty position at a University or College), the abstract will be disqualified.
- Resident award applicants must be in an EM residency program (i.e. FRCPC resident in emergency medicine or CCFP-EM resident). Staff physicians, fellows, graduate students, and assistant professors are not eligible for resident awards.
- Relevant start and stop dates (i.e., undergraduate MD, residency, fellowship, appointment at the level of assistant professor) should be included in the application, so CAEP staff can verify the eligibility for Top Medical Student, all Resident Awards, and Top New Investigator Award.
- Applicants can specify parental or sick leaves that may extend their eligibility or alter their anticipated start and stop dates.
- Applicants who misrepresent their eligibility will be disqualified.
