Resident Section Roles and Responsibilities

Position Descriptions

  • Represent the interests of all CAEP residents at the CAEP Executive Board of Directors meetings and the Membership Committee meetings.
  • Update the above mentioned groups on the undertakings of the Resident Section as well as any ideas, issues or concerns of residents
  • Preside over the resident section committee in accordance with President job description approved by the CAEP Resident Section Executive
  • Participate in the general operation of the CAEP Resident Executive throughout their term in accordance with the Vice President job description approved by the CAEP Resident Section Executive
  • Sit as a member of the CAEP Resident Executive.
  • Participate in the general operation of the CAEP Resident Executive throughout their term.
  • Each year, the VP will initiate or continue a project to promote the Mission and Vision of the CAEP RS.
  • Watch over the general interest of the CAEP RS.
  • Assist the President and other Executive Members in their duties.
  • Chair Executive committee meeting in the President’s absence.
  • Expected to attend all CAEP Resident Executive meetings, including the annual CAEP conference
  • Oversee and execute the marketing and communications for the CAEP Resident Section in accordance with the job description approved by the CAEP Resident Section Executive .
  • Represent the academic interests of all CAEP residents and students at CAEP Public Affairs Committee Meetings.
  • Oversee and execute the Public Affairs portfolio in accordance with the job description approved by the CAEP Resident Section Executive

  • Record and document the minutes of all executive officer meetings and send it to the executive members within 10 days of the meeting.
  • Oversee and execute the items within job description approved by the CAEP Resident Section Executive
  • Represent Canadian CCFP(EM) residents through liaising with program Chiefs, and acting as a voice and advocate for these residents
  • Encourage CAEP membership to CCFP(EM) residents
  • Advocate for resident driven research publications in CJEM.
  • Oversee and execute CJEM activities in accordance with the job description approved by the CAEP Resident Section Executive
  • Represent AMUQ residents acting as a voice and advocate for these residents
  • Encourage CAEP membership to AMUQ residents
  • This role represents Pediatric Emergency Medicine residents and collaborates with current PEM chiefs

Voting member on Resident Section
Voting member on CAEP Wellness Committee
Collect and maintain listing of National Wellness representatives

Works with the conference planning committee and the Resident section executive to plan the resident related events and talks during the CAEP conference.
