CAEP Medical Student Section (MSS)

What is the CAEP MSS?
The medical student section is currently represented by an elected member who sits on the CAEP residents committee with the election at the annual CAEP conference. The challenge of the MSS is the transient nature of medical student representation as we each move on to our residencies.
Goals and Objectives of the CAEP MSS:
1) To provide a forum for national and international networking between medical students interested in EM.
2) To represent medical students interested in emergency medicine.
3) To provide leadership and advocacy in EM undergraduate medical education.
4) To promote and support CAEP Medical Student activities nation wide through regional leadership.
5) To initiate projects and/or events that will be of benefit to medical students or patients.
6) To collaboratively help to promote interest in EM amongst all medical students regardless of their specialty interest.
Accomplishments thus far
When applying to residency, we as medical students frequently have many questions. In order to help you answer some of the common ones, we've put together a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) that pertain to EM residency program applications. EM residents nation-wide were asked to provide answers. The information is compiled from their responses and posted on the site.
Future directions and goals
The primary goal will be to establish a sustainable structure for the section. In creating such, we hope to better serve you throughout each year. For those of you involved in your school’s EM interest group, we invite you to contact us so that we can establish a network for communication amongst groups across the country. Send us an email with your group leader’s contact information so that we can share ideas and generate a sustainable form of communication.
