GOLDEN EAGLES OF ECG PROJECT:
An "eye training" course to detect early ECG changes in STEMI
Dr. Masis Perk
Option #1: Sunday, June 3, 2012 14:30 - 16:00
Option #2: Tuesday, June 5, 2012 15:30 - 17:00
Delays measured by minutes in the diagnosis of STEMI can cause survival reductions measured by years. Early phase / subtle ST elevations can initially go undetected in up to 40% of cases of STEMI. The solution starts with organizing "eye training" courses for frontline acute cardiac care providers, both current and future.
Since 2006, the course has been attended by 1100 participants in 4 Canadian provinces and abroad. Examples of complete recanalization, electrocardiographic "cure", delayed / failed therapy, missed opportunities, reocclusion, spontaneous lysis, etc. have been included with serial ECG follow-up.
Learning Objectives
• A uniquely designed course to equalize the level of visual comfort of all frontline acute cardiac care providers (for early ST elevation detection).
• To discuss the value of the initial ECG to define the therapeutic window of opportunity in rural and urban settings.
The course concludes that if time is myocardium, ECG must be the clock!
The workshop fee is $75 and the session is limited to a maximum of 50 people.
