Welcome to CAEP 2012 from the Conference Chairs
Welcome to CAEP 2012
from the Conference Chairs
The CAEP 2012 organizing committee would like to extend an invitation to you to participate in CAEP’s annual conference from June 2-6, 2012.
Every year CAEP takes us to a beautiful and unique part of Canada for our National Scientific Assembly. For 2012, our destination is the magical Niagara Region. Vines and orchids welcome you to a region of family fun, shopping, great food and wonderful wine. But nothing can compare to standing at the edge of The Falls to make you feel the power and the roar shaking the ground beneath your feet. This is the power we aim to harness during the days of the conference here in Niagara Falls.
The CAEP 2012 Organizing Committee has been working tirelessly for months, going over every detail of this national event, to assure its success. Empowered by the energy of The Falls, we will bring you a scientific program second to none. Inspired by the gentleness of the mist of The Falls, the social program will be full of excitement, fun and delicate taste. The region itself provides a magical backdrop to the Emergency Medicine event of the year.
At the heart of the event is our scientific program. We start our conference on June 2nd with an energetic resident and medical student symposia. This year the resident track will host plenary speakers assembled from unique subspecialty interest areas including ultrasound, sports medicine, international health and toxicology. The medical student track will host a FRCP(C) Program Directors panel and an interactive discussion of the pros and cons of the two emergency medicine training tracks. We follow with a welcomed return of the Clinical Pathological Cases.
Our scientific program has assembled an unparalleled team of Track Chairs, all experts in their respective fields. We have developed a robust program that will speak to emergency physicians from all corners of our country and from rural to academic settings. Our program promises to have a series of dedicated tracks that address the mainstay of our current practices but also to “harness the power“ as we look to the future of our specialty. The plenaries address issues of regulation in emergency medicine, leadership, education and professionalism, and health care.
The conference program will have a special focus on Medical Simulation, Medical Education, Global Health, Resuscitation Medicine/EMS, and a first for CAEP, a dedicated series of Advocacy tracks. Our Advocacy tracks will focus on patient safety, injury prevention, physician wellness, and public affairs. This year, we are excited to present our inaugural debut of Simulation Medicine into our scientific program. This track brings together simulation education specialists in a unique Olympiad format – “let the games begin”.
As always, a dedicated Research Track will be integrated into our program. This year we are delighted to incorporate a concurrent track of moderated posters. We look forward to this format stimulating interest and discussion, and facilitating a milieu whereby poster presenters can receive feedback and generate contacts.
Mark your calendars for June 2, 2012 and let us welcome you to our beautiful region. Give us the opportunity to help you learn, have fun, shop and enjoy all the magic that Niagara has to offer. We promise you an event to remember.
